The plasma display panel (PDP) is a promising technological device, especially as a large-area flat panel display or video monitor. In a typical PDP cell, a noble gas mixture is sealed between dielectric materials that are backed by conducting electrodes. A PDP Cell, which operates on the same principle as fluorescent lamps, applies voltage pulse to the electrodes producing a discharge and converting ultraviolet (UV) light to visible light by the use of phosphors. However, the major issues of PDP are its low brightness, low luminous efficiency , short lifetime and high power consumption. We will simulate discharge phenomenon in a PDP cell to understand the discharge mechanism and use a spectrometer and an intensified CCD camera observing the discharge phenomenon during a discharge to analysis the plasma parameters.
